2 years agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Matt Vierling is hitting leadoff Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers and left-hander Eric Lauer. Vierling didn't start Monday's contest but did make a pinch-hitting appearance that resulted in a strikeout. As has consistently been the case to this point in the season, Vierling will start and leadoff against a left-handed starter as he's a .293 career hitter with a .731 OPS against lefties while hitting just .232 with a .634 OPS against same-handed pitching. Vierling doesn't offer a ton of power but does have a pair of steals in 18 appearances after swiping 15 bags across 138 contests between the minors and majors with the Phillies organization in 2022.--Brenton Kemp
