Matt Strahm Expected To Throw Bullpen Tuesday
2 years agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that left-handed reliever Matt Strahm (wrist) is playing catch and "there's a good chance he'll throw a bullpen on Aug. 9." Strahm was hit on the left wrist by a line drive on July 12 against the Tampa Bay Rays, but X-rays came back negative. It remains unclear if the Red Sox will send the 30-year-old southpaw on a minor league rehab assignment, but either way, he's nearing a return to Boston's big-league bullpen. Although Strahm does have three saves this year, there's not a ton of fantasy value in his left arm. He's sporting a 3.58 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 32 strikeouts and seven walks in 27 2/3 innings pitched this year.
