Matt Kuchar and Bubba Watson Deliver a Slap-Happy Performance in New Orleans
7 years agoMatt Kuchar and Bubba Watson disappointed many this weekend shooting an 11-under par, which was good for a T28 finish. The tandem entered the week as one of the favorites to take home the title but could not get anything going all weekend long. Not only did Kuchar and Watson fail to be the one-two punch many expected them to be but some could even say they delivered a slap-happy type of performance. The two implemented one of the strangest celebrations ever seen on the golf course. After making birdie, the person who made the birdie would get slapped in the face by their partner. In theory, if this was the rule they wanted to apply, how much smarter would it have been for the person who made the birdie to slap the other for not contributing? Instead, they punished the guy who helped out the team. SMART stuff! After six consecutive events played in a row, Matt Kuchar will not play in this week's Wells Fargo Championship. When we do see him tee it up next, he will put his 32 consecutive worldwide cuts-made streak on the line. Kuchar is one of the most consistent players on tour, and there is no reason to believe that streak is coming to an end any time soon.
