Matt Carpenter Riding Pine Thursday
5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter is not in the starting lineup on Thursday. Tommy Edman is at the hot corner and is batting seventh against Rockies starter German Marquez. Carp has been putrid all year (.212/.321/.363 with 11 homers and 33 RBI) and hasn't shown any signs of pulling out of his season-long slump, which could cause him to lose more playing time down the stretch with the Cardinals fighting for the division. It's probably time to move on in shallow mixed leagues if you have other needs. Edman is hitting .265 with five homers, 20 RBI and eight steals in 185 at-bats this year. He's most attractive for his speed in NL-only leagues but isn't much of a DFS option on Thursday.
