Matt Bowman Throws 35-Pitch Bullpen
5 years agoCincinnati Reds reliever Matt Bowman (elbow) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday. He dealt with some elbow soreness earlier in camp but is working toward being ready for Opening Day. Bowman posted a 3.66 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 27 games for the Reds in 2019. He is likely ticketed for a middle-relief spot in the Cincy bullpen when the regular season opens.

Mariners Agree To Minor League Deal With Matt Bowman
10 months agoThe Seattle Mariners came to terms with pitcher Matt Bowman to a minor-league deal that will turn into a $1 million contract if he makes the big league roster. Bowman was designated for assignment Saturday by the Arizona Diamondbacks after he recorded an 8.10 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP over four appearances. The Mariners will be the third team for Bowman this season, as he was designated for assignment by the Minnesota Twins on April 30. The 33-year-old has a career (7-13) record with a 4.19 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over 195 relief appearances in six seasons. Bowman is not on the fantasy radar and can be left on the waiver wire in most leagues.

Diamondbacks Demote Blake Walston, Acquire Matt Bowman
11 months agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks have sent pitcher Blake Walston back down to Triple-A Reno. Walston made his debut on Monday versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Walston went 3 2/3 out of the bullpen for the Diamondbacks and was wild with four walks and two runs allowed. Walston's trip was brief, but it is likely that he will be back with the Diamondbacks when they need more pitching depth or an injury occurs. Replacing Walston on the active roster will be pitcher Matt Bowman. Bowman was acquired from the Minnesota Twins for cash considerations on Thursday. Both Walston and Bowman can remain on the waiver wire in all formats.

Matt Bowman Signs Minor-League Deal With Twins
1 year agoFree-agent right-hander Matt Bowman signed a minor-league deal with the Minnesota Twins on Thursday that includes an invite to spring training, according to a source. He'll make $925,000 if he reaches the majors. Bowman spent the last three seasons in the New York Yankees organization and made three relief appearances for the Bombers in 2023, allowing four earned runs on six hits (one homer) while walking two and striking out three in four innings. It was the 32-year-old's first appearances in the big leagues since 2019 with the Cincinnati Reds. Bowman is strictly going to provide minor-league relief depth for the Twins to open the 2024 season. Bowman has a 4.13 ERA (3.73 FIP) and 1.28 WHIP with two saves, 64 walks and 152 strikeouts in 185 1/3 relief innings in his five years in the majors with the Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals and Reds.
