Matt Adams Still Absent
5 years agoThere is no update on New York Mets first baseman Matt Adams, who has now missed six days of work in camp since the Mets scratched him for additional cardiac screening. Adams has not been at the team's facilities doing baseball activities. It's unclear if this is a serious issue, but it's starting to get concerning at this point. The 31-year-old managed to hit just .226 with a .741 OPS, 20 home runs and 56 RBI in 111 games for the Nationals in 2019. His signing was odd given that New York has Pete Alonso and Dominic Smith as options at first base. If healthy, Adams will be a power bat off the bench and against right-handers when Alonso needs a day off. That gives him limited appeal in NL-only leagues.
