Mason Rudolph Also Linked To The 49ers
2 years agoImpending free-agent quarterback Mason Rudolph will hit the open market for the first time in his five-year NFL career. While there's a chance he may end up back in Pittsburgh, another team appears interested, with ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reporting the signal-caller is rumored to be on the 49ers' radar. Players like Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield have been tied to San Francisco, with Brady an obvious stretch, but adding Rudolph could be on the agenda if the team can't successfully land one of the preferred options. The 27-year-old has amassed 2,366 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions since being drafted in 2018, so he's had an decent career. However, even if Rudolph starts a few games in San Francisco, Trey Lance (ankle) or Brock Purdy (elbow) will reclaim the role once healthy.
