Masataka Yoshida Unlikely To Hit Leadoff
2 years agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora threw cold water on Sunday on the idea of outfielder Masataka Yoshida hitting leadoff in his first MLB season. Instead, he's likely to hit near the middle of the batting order to open up the 2023 campaign. The 29-year-old was able to get on base frequently while playing in Japan, but Cora plans to have him hitting in the middle of the lineup most days. It's good news for Yoshida's fantasy value, as he should have more opportunities to drive in runs hitting in the heart of Boston's order. He also is very good at making contact and limiting his strikeouts, but he could face an adjustment to harder throwers in the States. Fantasy managers should consider him a decent target for OBP and batting average, and RotoBaller considers him as a borderline top-40 fantasy outfielder.
