Masahiro Tanaka Fires Six Strong Innings On Thursday
6 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka pitched six innings of two-run ball and did enough to help his team stay in the game, but ended up with his fourth loss as the Yankee offense could do nothing against Tampa Bay Rays pitching. In the end, the Yankees just managed one run on seven hits, a run that came long after Rays starter Blake Snell's day was done. Tanaka struck out six batters but got into trouble in the very first inning. The Rays then notched another run on the board in the eighth inning that would ultimately be enough for a 3-1 win. Tanaka's season ERA is an unseemly 4.03, but he owns 117 strikeouts and a 1.12 WHIP. He will be a great option against the Miami Marlins in his next start.
