Martin Truex Jr Had Steady Run, but Was Typically Foiled by Bad Luck at Nashville
5 months agoMartin Truex Jr had a fairly anonymous race at Nashville by his standards, as he was the slowest Joe Gibbs Racing driver, but he didn't run badly either as he ranked sixth in speed and average running position despite being struck by bad luck--as usual. Although Truex ran in the back half of the top ten for most of the race, he briefly moved into second in overtime after Ross Chastain's spin and Kyle Larson ran out of fuel, but at that point, he and teammate Denny Hamlin needed to pit for fuel because the Toyotas were faster than the other makes of car, causing them to burn more fuel. While the many overtime restarts allowed drivers like Larson and Ryan Blaney to salvage good finishes despite their bad luck, Truex was not one of them as his last-lap spinout relegated him to a 24th-place finish.
