Martin Truex Jr. Begins Outside Top Ten Sunday
1 year agoMartin Truex Jr. likely figured to be inside the top ten for Chicago on Sunday. However, that was not the case. Truex Jr. finished almost a full second off the pole of Denny Hamlin. He had a qualifying effort which looked good but had to pull off after missing the exit on the ninth turn. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver is one of those racers who needs to see a course a few times before getting a handle. His No. 19 car was the overall fastest in the practice session. Truex Jr. just won in Sonoma last month and could move up quickly on Sunday evening.
