Marlins Trade For Sixto Sanchez, Jorge Alfaro
6 years agoThe Miami Marlins acquired pitching prospect Sixto Sanchez, catcher Jorge Alfaro and left-hander Will Stewart and $250,000 in international bonus slot money on Thursday in exchange for All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto. Sanchez was the centerpiece of the deal for Realmuto and is ranked as baseball's No. 27 overall prospect. The hard-throwing right-hander (21 in July) had elbow issues last year and made only eight starts for High-A Clearwater, but he has high-end stuff and should eventually become Miami's ace. Stash him in dynasty leagues. Alfaro, 25, .262/.324/.407 with 10 homers and 37 RBI in 108 games with Philly in 2018. The move is a downgrade for his fantasy value, but he'll remain a starter and has value in deeper leagues or two-catcher formats. Stewart had a 2.06 ERA in 20 starts for Single-A Lakewood last season.
