6 years agoThe Miami Marlins plan to offer a contract extension to catcher J.T. Realmuto at some point in the coming weeks. "It's no secret, I think J.T. knows how we feel about him," Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill said. "He had a tremendous season, an All-Star season. It's great to see his talent finally being recognized throughout the industry. As I've I said consistently, we want him to be a part of what we're doing in the long term." Realmuto has become one of the top catchers in baseball, slashing .277/.340/.484 with career highs in home runs (21) and RBI (74) despite being on a losing time in 2018. His .825 OPS was also a career high. He'll be eligible for salary arbitration after the 2020 season. Realmuto should be one of the top catchers off the board in fantasy drafts next spring, if not the first catcher drafted.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
