Marlins Call Up Monte Harrison
3 years agoThe Miami Marlins called up outfielder Monte Harrison from the minors on Sunday and designated right-hander Preston Guilmet for assignment in a corresponding move. Harrison has hit a modest .259/.331/.431 with four home runs, 16 RBI and eight stolen bases in 32 games with Single-A Jupiter and Triple-A Jacksonville this year in the minor leagues. The team's No. 13 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, played in just three games in the big leagues earlier this year, going 1-for-5 with a strikeout and a caught stealing. Harrison has an exciting power/speed combination, but he needs to make more contact and cut down on the strikeouts and hit the ball more in the air. The 25-year-old will be outfield depth for now, and it's unclear how long he'll stick around on the major league roster heading into the second half.
