Marlins Agree With Francisco Cervelli
5 years agoThe Miami Marlins agreed to a one-year deal with catcher Francisco Cervelli on Monday, according to a source. The deal is believed to be worth $2 million. Cervelli had more concussion problems in 2019 and played in just 48 games as a result with the Pirates and Braves. He hit a weak .213/.302/.348 with three home runs and 12 RBI. In his new home he'll serve as a backup to Jorge Alfaro and mostly be a veteran leader in the clubhouse with a rebuilding franchise. Cervelli could be forced into immediate retirement if he suffers another head injury, and he'll have no fantasy appeal leading into the 2020 season.
