Mark Ingram II Signs One-Year Extension With Saints
3 years agoThe New Orleans Saints and newly acquired running back Mark Ingram II agreed to a one-year contract extension on Friday worth up to $2.8 million in 2022, according to sources. The extension was signed on Thursday before the trade with the Houston Texans became official. With Tony Jones Jr. still on Injured Reserve, Ingram will serve as Alvin Kamara's direct running back in New Orleans after he spent the first eight years of his career with the Saints. The 31-year-old veteran bruiser led the Texans committee backfield with 294 yards and a touchdown on 92 carries (3.2 yards per carry) before the trade, but he'll lose some fantasy value with the move. Ingram could see some valuable goal-line carries, but this Saints offense isn't nearly as explosive under quarterback Jameis Winston, which will make Ingram hard to trust as a touchdown-dependent RB4/flex.
