11 months agoDon't let the third-place finish for Mark Hubbard and his partner, Ryan Brehm, at the team event in New Orleans trick you into expecting anything similar out of the San Jose State Alum this week in Texas. The lone highlight of him tapping in a three-footer for eagle amongst a handful of wonderful shots from Brehm is all that is needed to suggest that someone's back is feeling pretty sore to start this new week, and it isn't Mark Hubbard's. That isn't to say that putting him in a lineup is a wasted pick, but it's important to keep expectations heavily modest. His 24th ranking in strokes gained on approach (0.491) and top 70 rankings in strokes gained around the green (0.146) and putting (0.158) will probably carry him enough to continue his impressive streak of made cuts, but anything more exciting than that feels highly unlikely.--Todd McGill - RotoBaller

2 months agoMark Hubbard has not broken into the top 10 yet in 2025. The American golfer has finished T21 and T12, however. Last week, he was on the front page of the leaderboard at the American Express before a Sunday 73. The week before featured a third-round 70 in Hawaii. Putting together four good to very good rounds is key for Hubbard. He had a few duds at Torrey Pines but squeaked into the top 20 in 2024 behind a final-round 69. Can Hubbard continue to get chances on the greens? He ranks ninth early in strokes gained (1.238) when approaching the green. Another key may be putts per round come the weekend. Hubbard ranked 164th (29.78) in 2024 during Round 3. Consistency is vital for Hubbard this week.--Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

5 months agoMark Hubbard is one of those golfers who plays pretty well in Bermuda. The American golfer has a few Top 25 results on the Port Royal course. He is a bit of a longer shot to win the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. However, anything can happen given the expected showery and windy conditions at times during this weekend's event. Most of the tournament will be dry but watch for shifting winds. Hubbard seems to negotiate those well. The key is putting and Hubbard is pretty average ranking 96th in strokes gained at -0.017. It is important to be accurate as well and the golfer is 23rd in driver accuracy (66.67%). Keeping things on course will be more vital than usual for Hubbard.--Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

9 months agoIf you take a quick glance at Mark Hubbard's recent course history at TPC Deere Run, he appears to be trending toward the first victory of his PGA Tour career. The 35-year-old veteran finished T41 in 2021, T13 in 2022, and T6 in 2023, all three events in which he gained strokes from tee-to-green and with the flat stick. Hubbard's good drive percentage should lead to plenty of scoring opportunities on approach, and he ranks 26th in strokes gained putting over the last 24 rounds. His recent form may help to keep his ownership low, as he's only finished inside of the top-20 once so far in the 2024 calendar year, excluding a T4 result at the Zurich Classic team event. Despite those results, Hubbard's course history will likely be too tough to pass up once again at the John Deere Classic.--Ryan Hickey

9 months agoMark Hubbard knows birdies and better will be on the menu for the Rocket Mortgage Classic. The American golfer ranks 12th on the PGA Tour in total birdies made at 256. His 69.75 scoring average comes in at 25th with an adjusted rank of 28th. Hubbard's putts per round is interesting. He often starts off well and then begins to gradually tail off over the weekends. His 1.07 putt per round difference between Round 2 and Round 2 is worrisome. The Detroit Golf Club requires birdies and plenty of them. The question is more consistency for Hubbard at this point. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
