Mariners To Eat $60 Million In Robinson Cano Deal

The Seattle Mariners will eat roughly $60 million of the $120 million owed to second baseman Robinson Cano over the next five years if the blockbuster deal with the New York Mets goes down. Cano and closer Edwin Diaz are expected to be dealt to the Mets in exchange for outfielder Jay Bruce, reliever Anthony Swarzak, pitching prospect Justin Dunn, outfield prospect Jarred Kelenic and reliever Gerson Bautista. The two teams are still going over the details of the trade and Cano must waive his full no-trade clause, so this deal might not be finalized until over the weekend.
