Mariners Acquire Carlos Santana From Royals
The Seattle Mariners have acquired first baseman and designated hitter Carlos Santana from the Kansas City Royals, the team announced on Monday. Santana was hitting .216 with a .349 on-base percentage and four home runs in 212 plate appearances for Kansas City this season. The 36-year-old will give Seattle another option at first base and designated hitter. The Mariners have had a slightly more productive lineup than the Royals so Santana should see a slight uptick in RBI opportunities. Still, he's likely only an option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues where on-base percentage is part of the scoring. Seattle also acquired cash considerations with Santana and sent reliever Wyatt Mills and pitching prospect William Fleming to Kansas City in return.
