Marcus Stroman Open To Playing For Big-Market Team
5 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Marcus Stroman said that he'd be interested in playing for a big-market team, although he didn't specifically say he wanted to play for the Yankees. Stroman is almost certainly expected to be traded before the deadline on July 31, and the Yankees are a potential landing spot within the American League East. "I’m built for this," said Stroman, who grew up on Long Island and went to Patchogue-Medford High School. "Anybody can say whatever, but I’m built for the bright lights. I’m not scared of it. I’ve never been. I take that ball each and every time with the pressure on. I love it." Stroman is 5-9 with a nice 3.04 ERA and 1.25 WHIP for the Blue Jays. He doesn't strike many out as a ground-ball artist, but he'd certainly have to keep the ball on the ground to thrive in the Bronx if he winds up there. He'd also have a much better offense backing him, which would boost his fantasy appeal for the remainder of the season.
