Marcus Smart is Expected to Play Friday
7 years agoBoston Celtics guard Marcus Smart (thigh) is expected to play against the Detroit Pistons on Friday. Head coach Brad Stevens says he expects Smart to play after missing 11 games before the All-Star break. He missed those games due to a hand injury, but he's now dealing with a minor thigh issue. Smart has been cleared to return from the hand injury and this thigh issue should not keep him sidelined. Terry Rozier will lose some minutes and value with Smart returning to the rotation.

Marcus Smart Not Healthy Enough To Play On Monday

Marcus Smart Iffy For Monday
2 days agoWashington Wizards guard Marcus Smart (illness) remains on the injury report for a non-COVID illness and is considered questionable for Monday's matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers. The former Defensive Player of the Year was forced to miss the last game against the Denver Nuggets, but may only have to face a one-game absence. If he remains sidelined, however, Bub Carrington should see some added minutes off of the bench while AJ Johnson will likely get some added opportunities as well. Carrington has enjoyed the best month of his season with averages of 11.3 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game in March.

Marcus Smart Downgraded To Out
4 days agoWashington Wizards guard Marcus Smart (illness) has been downgraded to out ahead of Sunday's game against the Denver Nuggets. Smart wasn't originally on the injury report, but it appears he came down with an illness ahead of tip-off. The Wizards will take the cautious approach and hold out Smart for at least one game. The absence of Smart should mean more playing time for AJ Johnson and Bub Carrington. Between the two, Carrington is the much better streaming choice. The 19-year-old has scored double digits in four of his last six games coming into Saturday's contest.
