Marcus Mariota Risks Long-Term Injury
6 years agoUpdating a previous report, Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota (stinger), who is not expected to play on Sunday night in a must-win game against the Colts, would risk potential long-term injury if he plays, according to sources familiar with his injury. He will test his arm in pregame warmups but further damage would put his ability to throw the football at significant risk beyond this weekend, according to an independent spine specialist. The Titans are hoping the nerve damage will diminish with more rest and allow Mariota a chance to play in the playoffs if they win on Sunday night. Blaine Gabbert is expected to start, with Austin Davis backing him up. The Titans will definitely lean on the ground game, making pass-catchers like Corey Davis extremely hard to rely on in fantasy.
