10 months agoTwo Ontario-based clubs have interest in veteran Calgary Flames defenseman Chris Tanev as the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators reportedly have keen interest in the gritty blueliner. Tanev is one of the top defensemen available leading up to the March 8 NHL trade deadline as defensive defensemen such as himself have risen in value of late. He has just one goal and nine points in 46 games but Tanev's 135 blocked shots rank fifth in the NHL. Furthermore, he has been able to stay healthy this season as he has only skated in more than 70 games once in his 13-year career prior to this season. At 22-22-5, the Flames sit five points back of the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.--Brenton Kemp
