4 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Manuel Margot (hamstring) is set to begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham later this week. He landed on the injured list near the beginning of July due to a Grade 1 left hamstring strain. Before getting injured, Margot was slashing .252/.297/.404 with nine home runs and nine stolen bases in Tampa Bay. The hope is that he'll be activated early next week. However, he's likely only going be an asset in deep leagues or AL-only formats.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

1 week agoOutfielder Manuel Margot was released by the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. The veteran was 8-for-32 (.250) this spring with no home runs but did steal a base and logged a 3:5 BB:K. The right-handed hitter appeared in 129 games for the Twins last season, but it only amounted to a .238-4-31-37-5 stat line, which was a similar line to the two previous seasons. The 30-year-old may end up signing somewhere else, but those stats won't cut it for fantasy. Margot should be left on the waiver wire until he finds at least semi-regular at-bats somewhere and shows he can still produce. --Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

1 month agoThe Milwaukee Brewers have added free-agent outfielder Manuel Margot on an undisclosed deal, and he was spotted walking through the team's clubhouse at spring training on Friday. Margot was likely added on a minor-league deal to add depth to an already crowded Brewers outfield. The 30-year-old Dominican became a free agent in the offseason when the Minnesota Twins declined his $12 million option for the 2025 season. In his first year with the Twins in 2024, Margot hit .238/.289/.337 with a career-worst .626 OPS, four home runs, 31 RBI, five steals and 37 runs scored in 129 games played. However, he did have a .269 average (10-for-42) with a .713 OPS against left-handed pitchers. Speed is probably his greatest asset, but the fact that he slipped defensively last year won't help his chances of winning an Opening Day roster spot with the Brewers.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

5 months agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Manuel Margot and infielder Kyle Farmer had their 2025 club options declined and will head to free agency according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. Margot held a .238/.289/.337 line with four home runs and five stolen bases across 129 games last season. Farmer posted a similar .214/.293/.353 slash line with five home runs and three swiped bags in 107 games of action in 2024. Margot logged most of his starts in center field while Farmer was deployed all over the infield. Both batters will likely be viewed as reserve options during free agency and should not be on your fantasy radar heading into 2025.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

7 months agoThe Minnesota Twins activated outfielder Manuel Margot (groin) from the 10-day injured list and catcher Christian Vazquez from the paternity list on Wednesday and optioned infielder Michael Helman and catcher Jair Camargo to the minors in corresponding moves. Vazquez will do the catching and bat ninth on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Jack Kochanowicz at Target Field. It's a promising matchup for Vazquez and the Twins, but the 34-year-old Puerto Rican backstop has very little fantasy upside in the nine-hole. He's hitting .228 (60-for-263) on the year with seven homers and 27 RBI. Vazquez will serve as Ryan Jeffers' backup now that he's back. Margot is recovered from a mild right-groin strain and will return to reserve outfield duties that fantasy managers can ignore in mixed formats.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
