Manny Machado Hits Seventh Home Run
9 months agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a walk in Thursday's victory versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Machado's first hit of the game came in the bottom of the first inning when he sent a pitch from Bryse Wilson 348-feet for his seventh homer of the season. Machado has been a bit banged up this season, recently missing a few games with a hip injury. For the season, Machado is now hitting .253 with seven homers, 36 RBI and five stolen bases. Machado's .684 OPS is a career low for the six-time All-Star, with injuries likely the biggest cause for that. Regardless, Machado has still had a solid season and should remain rostered in all formats.

Manny Machado Expected To Return On Tuesday
3 weeks agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (back) is likely to be back in the lineup on Tuesday. Machado was scratched ahead of Friday's contest due to back tightness. The good news is Machado was able to do defensive drills on Sunday, so it sounds like he's making progress. The Padres are likely just being cautious with Machado early in camp. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect this injury to be something that lingers into the regular season.

Manny Machado Scratched With Back Tightness
4 weeks agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (back) was scratched from Friday's lineup with back tightness. The team said the move was precautionary. Fantasy managers should monitor his status in case he faces an extended absence. Eguy Rosario took his place in the lineup and covered the hot corner. Last season, Machado hit at least 28 home runs for the fourth-straight campaign. He posted a .275/.325/.472 slash line with 30 doubles, 29 home runs, and 11 stolen bases. He generated a strong .272 xBA with a .461 xSLG. The 32-year-old also posted an elite 48.8 percent hard-hit rate and placed in the 93rd percentile in bat speed. Tyler Wade should also see opportunities at the hot corner while Machado remains sidelined. Fantasy managers should view Machado as a high-end third baseman in all formats if he can move past this injury.

Manny Machado Says He's 100 Percent Healthy
1 month agoMLB.com's AJ Cassavell writes that San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (elbow) says he's 100 percent healthy at spring training this year. Machado suffered from tennis elbow in 2023 and had surgery last offseason. "It's different, definitely," Machado said. "Feels good." Machado is now 32 years old, but he still managed to provide a strong .275/.325/.472 slash line for his fantasy managers last year with a .797 OPS, 29 home runs, 105 RBI, 11 stolen bases and 77 runs scored in 152 regular-season games. He has nine seasons in the big leagues with 25-plus home runs, which is tied with Mike Trout and second to only Giancarlo Stanton. Don't expect another season of double-digit stolen bases, but Machado has a pretty safe floor and has 10 seasons with 600-plus plate appearances. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 6 fantasy third baseman.

Manny Machado Goes Deep In Game 1 Of NLDS
6 months agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 1-for-5 with a two-run shot in their loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLDS. Machado put the Padres up early as he hit a two-run homer in the opening frame off Yoshinobu Yamamoto, which scored Fernando Tatis Jr. Machado tallied two RBI in the Wild Card series against the Atlanta Braves and is continuing to serve as a focal point of the offense in the NLDS. DFS players should always consider putting Machado in their lineup, given his upside for power and scoring opportunities batting in the heart of a potent lineup. Machado held a solid .275 AVG this season with 29 long balls and 11 stolen bases. He will face Dodger right-hander Jack Flaherty on Sunday evening in Game 2 and will likely bat in the cleanup spot as he has done through most of the summer.
