Manny Machado Doubles And Scores In Defeat
1 year agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and a strikeout in a 9-4 blowout loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday. Machado helped put the Friars on the board in the top of the second inning with a double off Pirates starter Rich Hill. He came around to score on a Gary Sanchez single in the same frame but would not reach base again in the contest. Machado got off to a dreadful start this season but has shown some signs of life lately. He's batting .296 with a .886 over his last 27 at-bats. His season-long batting line (.253/.297/.410) still leaves a lot to be desired, however. He's got nine home runs, 33 RBI, and three stolen bases across 249 at-bats as well.
