Mallex Smith Scores Twice Friday

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Mallex Smith played the role of leadoff hitter quite well Friday versus the Blue Jays. He would be the only Rays player to score multiple runs and he even added a stolen base. The steal would be his 38th of the season. He is second in the American League but trails the leader by four with two games to go, making it an uphill fight. Smith made a good effort at chasing .300 but at .294 with two games left, that is also an uphill battle. His lack of power prevents him from reaching greater heights for fantasy but he has a place in all but the shallowest of leagues as long as he is eligible and stolen bases are a category that is rewarded.
