6 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Mallex Smith continues to lead the team in steals and picked up another one Sunday versus New York. Along with the stolen base, he also scored a run in the 7-6 extra-inning win. He still will sit occasionally when the handed matchup dictates but he has a decent chance to see the second-most playing time in the outfield going forward behind Kiermaier. Smith may have very little power, but he is batting .275 with 14 steals in 2018. He is not a major asset in shallower leagues, except as someone to rotate in if you need a fighting chance of a steal over the weekend to win a weekly head-to-head matchup.--Jamie Mellor
