Maikel Franco Hot To Start The Season
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies third baseman Maikel Franco homered and was intentionally walked three times in the 8-2 win on Tuesday over the Nationals, joining Albert Pujols (twice), Miguel Cabrera and Paul Goldschmidt as the only players to homer once and intentionally walk three times since 2009. He has home runs in three of the first four games, with each homer coming out of the eighth spot in the lineup. Franco enters the finale Wednesday hitting .545 (6-for-11) with three long balls, eight RBI, a .706 on-base percentage and a 1.364 slugging percentage. Despite his hot start, Franco may not move up in the lineup anytime soon. His fantasy owners aren't complaining, and Franco has been a popular waiver wire pickup because of his hot start after initially battling Scott Kingery for playing time at the hot corner this spring.
