Mackenzie Blackwood Traded to San Jose
1 year agoThe New Jersey Devils traded goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood to San Jose
in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick Tuesday. Blackwood had a solid start to his career, compiling a 32-24-8 record with a 2.72 goals-against-average and .916 save percentage across his first two seasons. However, he faced some challenges in the past three years, recording a 33-33-10 record with a 3.19 goals-against-average and an .897 save percentage. As a result, the 26-year-old fell behind netminders Vitek Vanecek and Akira Schmid on the Devils depth chart. Joining San Jose, Blackwood is expected to share playing time with Kaapo Kahkonen.
