Luis Severino Strikes Out Seven To Lead Mets Past Marlins
5 months agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Luis Severino struck out seven Marlins in six innings and picked up the win in the Mets' 1-0 victory over the Miami Marlins on Saturday. Severino's record now sits at 7-3 and saw his ERA decrease to 3.58 on the season. Though the right-hander walked three batters, he only gave up two hits and had a minimal amount of stressful innings to deal with. With the Mets holding onto the final wild card spot in the NL, performances like Severino's on Saturday against a subpar opponent are incredibly critical. It also is unlikely for Severino to be a part of any trade discussions if the Mets are still in the wild card race come July 30th. His next scheduled start is set for Thursday when the Mets host the Atlanta Braves.
