Luis Severino Brief But Effective In Win
6 years agoNew York Yankees manager Aaron Boone put his faith in starting pitcher Luis Severino for Wednesday night's American League wild-card game, and the 24-year-old rewarded him. While Severino went just four innings, he struck out seven, allowing just two hits and escaping a major, bases-loaded jam. Severino was much better than last season, when he started this very game on this exact date. Entering the fifth inning, he had not allowed a hit, but two quick singles resulted in his removal. The Dominican ace tossed 87 pitches, and while he didn't get the win, he set the Yankees up to use their bullpen in an effective way. Look for him to start the third game of the ALDS against the Boston Red Sox back in the Bronx.
