Luis Gil Shines In MLB Debut
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Gil went six scoreless in his MLB debut during a 13-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. The 23-year-old struck out six and allowed just four hits and one walk in the quality start. With Yankees starting pitchers Gerrit Cole, Jordan Montgomery, and Domingo German are on the shelf, Gil has been given an opportunity, in the short term, to make an impact in the Bronx. Gil has the ability to rack up strikeouts (13.0 K/9 in the minors), but also the propensity to issue free passes (13.0 BB/9). The Yankees right-hander will look to build on this start Sunday against the Seattle Mariners and is a worth a speculative add.
