Luis Gil Pitches Five Shutout Innings, Earns The Win On Wednesday
3 months agoNew York Yankees pitcher Luis Gil (12-5) pitched the first game of the team's doubleheader against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday and helped them secure a 5-2 victory. He allowed two hits and five walks while striking out five over six over scoreless innings, earning his 12th victory of the season. Gil, who had a rough month of June (6.45 ERA), seemed to settle back down. He is (3-2) with a 2.81 ERA and 39 strikeouts over 32 innings in his last six starts. The 26-year-old has re-established himself as one of the best pitchers on the Yankees staff and a near-top-tier arm in fantasy. Gil will look to keep things rolling in his next start on Monday on the road against the Chicago White Sox.
