Luis Gil Continues Scoreless Streak, Returned To Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Gil spun 4 2/3 scoreless innings on Tuesday during a 2-0 win over the Boston Red Sox. Pitching the second game of a doubleheader, the 23-year-old allowed three hits and four walks while striking out four. Gil has now tossed 15 2/3 scoreless innings to start his Major League career across three starts. The right-hander was also returned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as part of the procedural roster move following a doubleheader as the "27th Man." Until Yankees' starting pitchers Domingo German and Corey Kluber return to the rotation, there's no reason to think the Yankees won't trot out Gil. Look for the 23-year-old to make his next start either Sunday against the Minnesota Twins or Monday against the Atlanta Braves.
