Luis Campusano Coming Off The Injured List
5 months agoSan Diego Padres catcher Luis Campusano (thumb) is with the team in San Diego ahead of the series opener on Friday at Petco Park against the visiting division-rival Arizona Diamondbacks and will be activated from the 10-day injured list, according to manager Mike Shildt. However, Campusano said he won't make his return to the lineup until the series finale on Sunday. Kyle Higashioka will do the catching on Friday and bat ninth against Diamondbacks right-hander Slade Cecconi. Since Campusano went on the injured list, Higashioka's bat has come alive with regular playing time behind the dish. The 25-year-old started off the year strong but started to slow down offensively before his thumb injury. He's batting .234 with five home runs, 31 RBI and 25 runs scored and could see more of an even split with Higashioka as he eases his way back into a more regular role behind the plate.
