Luis Arraez Returns To Action On Friday
4 months agoSan Diego Padres infielder Luis Arraez (thumb) is serving as the designated hitter and is batting in his customary leadoff spot on Friday as he takes on the hosting Cleveland Guardians and right-hander Tanner Bibee to start the second half of the season. Arraez didn't miss any time to close out the first half of the season despite dealing with a jammed left thumb, but he did skip this week's All-Star festivities to rest up. He's still one of the best contact and average hitters in the game, but Arraez has hit just .268 (11-for-41) with a double and two RBI in 10 games so far in the month of July, and his thumb injury will be worth watching as we begin the second half. Overall, though, the 27-year-old Venezuelan has a strong .310 average (122-for-394) and .342 on-base percentage for fantasy managers, but it has come with just two homers, 24 RBI and three steals.
