Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Getting A Breather On Wednesday
2 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is absent from the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against right-hander Adam Wainwright and the St. Louis Cardinals. Raimel Tapia will be handling left field duties for the contest. Gurriel has been fantastic at the plate over the course of July. He owns a .408/.444/.513 slash line across the month, which has helped lift his season-long slash line to .313/.362/.433. We're still waiting to see the home runs come in as he has just five homers across 88 games on the year. He has a peculiarly low 5.4% HR/FB rate (down from 15.3% last year), despite the fact that he's improved upon both his launch angle and hard-hit rate from last year. There's a good chance we could see some positive home run regression for Gurriel over the final months of the year.
