Logan Gilbert Enduring Rough Spring
Logan Gilbert has been getting roughed up so far in Cactus League action. The 26-year-old began his spring with a pair of shutout innings against the Royals on Feb. 28 but has since yielded an eye-popping 10 earned runs on nine hits, including two homers, with three walks against seven strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings and two starts since. The back-to-back blowups have jumped Gilbert's spring ERA to 14.21 along with a 2.05 WHIP across 6 1/3 innings of work. The tough spring results to date don't require the panic button due to Gilbert's track record but the situation is worth monitoring at this time of the year. He posted a 3.73 ERA and ranked fifth with a 4.7% BB% among qualified pitchers a season ago.

Logan Gilbert Has Successful Bullpen On Tuesday
Logan Gilbert (elbow) threw around 25 pitches in his first full-fledged bullpen session on Tuesday, according to The Seattle Times' Adam Jude. Gilbert ramped up the intensity for his final handful of pitches and hit 94-plus mph on the radar gun with no discomfort in his right elbow. It's a big step for Seattle's ace, but he'll probably need another bullpen before being cleared to go on a minor-league rehab assignment. But once the 28-year-old is cleared to pitch in games again, it shouldn't be long before he returns to the major-league bullpen. Barring a setback, Gilbert could be back for fantasy managers by the end of May. The former 14th overall pick should be stashed in an injured-list spot while he recovers and will be a must-start when he returns. In six starts before his injury, Gilbert had a 2.37 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 44 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings pitched.

Logan Gilbert To Throw First Bullpen On Tuesday
Logan Gilbert (elbow) said that he will throw his first bullpen session on Tuesday. Gilbert threw off the mound to a standing catcher on Sunday. It's still to be determined on when he will possibly start a minor-league rehab assignment, but the 28-year-old reiterated that everything has felt good with his right elbow at every step so far. Gilbert was placed on the 15-day injured list in late April with a right-elbow injury, but as long as he doesn't suffer a setback as he begins ramping up, there's a chance he could be back for fantasy managers and in Seattle's starting rotation by the end of May. The former 14th overall pick in 2018 out of Stetson University is a must-start in fantasy each and every time he takes the mound when he's healthy. He had a 2.37 ERA and 0.79 WHIP with 44 punchouts in 30 1/3 innings in his six starts before getting hurt.

Logan Gilbert Could Throw Off A Mound Soon
Logan Gilbert (elbow) was scheduled to play catch again on Friday and could throw off the mound by the end of the team's current homestand next Wednesday, May 14, according to general manager Justin Hollander. Gilbert landed on the 15-day injured list with a Grade 1 flexor strain in his right elbow, but barring a setback, the M's are hoping that he'll be able to rejoin their starting rotation by the end of May. The 28-year-old was shut down from throwing for two weeks and will now begin building up his arm. When healthy, Gilbert is a high-end fantasy starter, so he needs to remain stashed in an IL spot in all leagues. The former 14th overall pick in 2018 out of Stetson went 1-1 with a 2.37 ERA and 0.79 WHIP with 44 strikeouts and only six walks in six starts over 30 1/3 innings this year before getting hurt.

Logan Gilbert Could Return Before The End Of May
Logan Gilbert (elbow) could return before the end of the month. Shannon Drayer reported that his outlook is "better than what it was initially." Gilbert was placed on the 15-day injured list with a Grade 1 flexor strain. The 27-year-old has yet to resume throwing; however, given this report, Gilbert may not need too much time to ramp up before he is cleared to return. Through his first 30 1/3 innings of work this season, the 27-year-old has posted a strong 2.37 ERA with a stellar 0.79 WHIP. He has tallied 44 punchouts while generating groundballs at a 51.5 percent rate. When Gilbert returns, he will be viewed as a high-end SP1 for the remainder of the campaign. While he remains sidelined, Emerson Hancock and Logan Evans should continue to see opportunities in the rotation.
