Lewis Brinson Struggles In His Start On Saturday
4 years agoMiami Marlins outfielder Lewis Brinson got the start in left field in Saturday's game against the Rays but did not do much with the opportunity. Despite being in a lineup that scored 12 runs, Brinson went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts. He was the only member of the starting lineup not to reach base. Don Mattingly chose to give Brinson and a few others a start in this one, since he couldn't do his "Sunday Special" lineup as the Marlins have a rare Sunday off day tomorrow. Brinson has yet to live up to even a small percentage of the expectations placed on him when he was a prospect. He'll return to the Marlins bench next week when the Marlins welcome the Cardinals to loanDepot park on Monday.
