Lewin Diaz Sent Down To Triple-A
4 years agoMiami Marlins rookie first baseman Lewin Diaz was optioned to Triple-A on Monday. Diaz looks to be in the plans as the Marlins first baseman of the future, but he clearly wasn't ready to compete at the highest level last season In 41 plate appearances, he hit just .154/.195/.205. He struggled at the Double-A level in the Marlins system in 2019, but was outstanding at that same level in the Twins organization before being traded to the fish. Diaz is someone to keep an eye on in deeper leagues and leagues with minor league spots, but he doesn't need to be rostered outside of the deepest developmental leagues for now.
