Kyler Murray Struggles In Preseason Action
5 years agoArizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Kyler Murray was flagged twice for false starts in the team's preseason game against the Raiders on Thursday because of his cadence, in which he calls for the snap. Quarterbacks had eight false-start penalties in 2018, and none had more than one in a game, according to ESPN Stats and Information. Murray was 3-for-8 passing for 12 yards, and he also ran once for four yards. He was also penalized for delay of game and was sacked for a safety. Murray had four overthrows in the first quarter after having four or more overthrows in just two games in his college career. It's just the preseason, so don't read too much into it. Murray is raw but has incredible upside in head coach Kliff Kingsbury's offense in his first season. There will be growing pains and ups and downs, but his upside is undeniable. Fantasy owners will likely reach for Murray as a low-end QB1, but we'd feel safer with him as our backup.
