12 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber went 1-for-1 with a home run, two RBI, three runs scored, and three walks during Sunday's 8-2 win over the Chicago White Sox. It was an impressive day at the plate for the Phillies and Schwarber was no exception. The 31-year-old is now slashing .217/.327/.434 with six homers, 11 RBI and one stolen base through 22 games. At this point, fantasy managers know what Schwarber brings to the table. He strikes out a ton and will hurt your ratios, but he can homer in bunches and will deliver solid counting stats across the board. A series at the hitter-friendly confines of Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati is up next.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller

1 month agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber has hit leadoff in almost 85 percent of his plate appearances since joining the team, but he could be moved down to third or fourth in the batting order in 2025. If that happens, shortstop Trea Turner would lead off, with first baseman Bryce Harper likely hitting second. Third baseman Alec Bohm and Schwarber could be interchangeable in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots. In addition to a possible lineup change, Schwarber has been working three times a week at first base with infield coach Bobby Dickerson. The Phillies want to give themselves another option when Harper needs a day off or if he gets injured. Schwarber has not played first since starting nine games there with Boston in 2021. A move to the leadoff spot for the 31-year-old lefty slugger would drop his run production but boost his RBI opportunities for fantasy managers.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

6 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber hit his 36th home run Saturday in a 6-3 loss to the New York Mets. It was his first homer in his last seven games, and his fourth in his last 15 games. On the season, the veteran is hitting .251 with 36 home runs, 99 RBI, five stolen bases and 106 runs scored. The leadoff hitter will look to continue his terrific season in the series finale tomorrow afternoon. Schwarber will look to have a hot final week leading into the playoffs, where the Phillies hope to have a long run into October.--Mike Carter - RotoBaller

7 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (elbow) is serving as the DH and is batting in his customary leadoff spot on Friday against the division-rival New York Mets and left-hander Jose Quintana at Citizens Bank Park. Schwarber injured his elbow during Tuesday's game while diving back into first base and was subsequently scratched from Wednesday's lineup as a result. But after a scheduled day off on Thursday, the 31-year-old is ready to roll for a crucial series this weekend against the Mets. Not only is Schwarber a must-start in all fantasy leagues when he's in the Phillies' lineup, but he has a career .333 average and an .889 OPS with a homer and four RBI in 18 at-bats against Quintana. The two-time All-Star swings and misses a lot, but he's also leading the league with 98 walks and has hit 35 homers and driven in 95 in 134 games in 2024.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

7 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (elbow) was scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup at Citizens Bank Park against the Tampa Bay Rays. Schwarber still feels something in his left elbow when he swings after leaving Tuesday's game early after diving back to first base on a pickoff. Manager Rob Thomson said he isn't concerned about it, and Schwarber could be back in the lineup on Friday for the start of a big series against the division-rival New York Mets after a scheduled day off on Thursday. The 31-year-old All-Star slugger did go deep on Tuesday before departing the contest early, and fantasy managers should consider him to be day-to-day for now. If he cannot return to action this weekend, then you can start worrying about his status the rest of the way. Bryce Harper is the DH on Wednesday, with Kody Clemens starting at first against the Rays.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
