Kyle Larson Takes Sole Possession of Points Lead After Consistent Yet Sloppy Drive
5 months agoKyle Larson delivered a typically strong performance in yesterday's race at Nashville to break his tie for the points lead with Chase Elliott and take a 20-point lead. Although Larson never led, he consistently ran in the top five for most of the race and ranked third behind Denny Hamlin and Tyler Reddick in speed, average running position, and driver rating amongst the drivers who finished the race. However, the race did not come without controversy, as on the second overtime restart, Larson spun out Ross Chastain for second to trigger a multi-car wreck before karmic justice was delivered to him when he ran out of fuel on the ensuing restart, but even that wrecked Kyle Busch out when Busch and Elliott had to check up behind him. Regardless, Larson remains the best driver in the NASCAR Cup Series even despite the mistakes he has been unable to shake.
