Kyle Busch Loses Overtime Duel, Likely Ending Playoff Bid
3 months agoKyle Busch's playoff bid effectively ended in Saturday's Coke Zero Sugar 400 despite a second-place finish, his best finish of the season and best at Daytona since 2019. Busch was in position to win and led at the end of regulation but got out to too large a lead on the final overtime restart, which gave Harrison Burton the momentum to sweep past to take the victory. To Busch's credit, he did not attempt to wreck his way into the playoffs like his teammate Austin Dillon did at Richmond, but even though he has likely been a top 16 driver this year when adjusting for Richard Childress Racing's subpar equipment, it's unlikely he will have enough speed at Darlington to win there, which means he will probably miss the playoffs for the first time since 2012.
