Kutter Crawford Continues To Earn Rotation Spot
9 months agoBoston Red Sox starting pitching Kutter Crawford put together another impressive outing in a Grapefruit League matchup versus the Toronto Blue Jays. Crawford went three scoreless innings and allowed two hits with no walks and four strikeouts. In 31 games (23 starts) this past season, Crawford showed serious upside and pitched to 4.04 ERA with 135 strikeouts in 129 1/3 innings. The 27-year-old impressed down the stretch and manager Alex Cora alluded to him likely earning an Opening Day spot in the rotation. Crawford will be battling Josh Winckowski, Garrett Whitlock and Tanner Houck for one of the two open spots, but it looks like it's his job to lose and with two strong showings thus far. With a splitter now in his arsenal, a strong finish to 2023 and two dominant performances in spring thus far, Crawford is an intriguing pick later in drafts for this upcoming season.
