Chicago Cubs third baseman/outfielder Kris Bryant had a night to forget on Saturday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Bryant went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts. Bryant looked healthy this spring and has been determined to prove the critics wrong after a tough 2018 campaign. The former National League MVP is hitting just .229 so far but has the potential to be a top-20 hitter in fantasy leagues this year.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

Colorado Rockies designated hitter Kris Bryant (back) will have an ablation procedure performed on his back on Thursday in Los Angeles to aid in his healing, according to MLB.com's Thomas Harding. Bryant was hoping to have the procedure last week, but doctors found blood in an area that sparked fears of an infection. Thankfully, he tested negative for any infection. "It seems pretty intense," Bryant said. "But it's not a crazy recovery period. They actually go into the bone and try to kill the nerves to the vertebrae." The 33-year-old has dealt with one injury after another since joining the Rockies in 2022. He hasn't played in more than 80 games in a single season and was batting .154 (6-for-39) with no homers and 13 K's before landing on the injured list this year. Bryant is hoping to return at some point this season, but it also wouldn't be a surprise if he's eventually shut down.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Colorado Rockies infielder/outfielder Kris Bryant (back) will have "follow-up scans" on his back after visiting with Dr. Robert Watkins on Monday, according to general manager Bill Schmidt. The result of Bryant's follow-up scans will guide the team through the next steps of Bryant's hopeful return. Bryant made it only 11 games with the Rockies in 2025 before landing on the 10-day injured list earlier this month with lumbar degenerative disc disease. The 33-year-old has essentially been injured ever since he joined the Rockies for the 2022 season and hasn't played in more than 80 games in a single year since then. He started out this year going 6-for-39 (.154) with no homers, two doubles, an RBI, two walks and 13 strikeouts before getting hurt yet again. At this point, the four-time All-Star and former MVP could be looking at a career-ending injury if he cannot bounce back and return at some point this year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Colorado Rockies designated hitter Kris Bryant (back) did not join the team for their series from April 22-24 against the Kansas City Royals due to persistent back pain stemming from lumbar degenerative disc disease and instead stayed in Denver for treatment and rehab. Bryant originally landed on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 13) on April 14, and it's anyone's guess as to when he might be able to join the major-league roster. The 33-year-old was still unable to stay off the IL early in the 2025 season despite the fact that the Rockies had only been using him at DH in the first month. The four-time All-Star and former MVP also went just 6-for-39 with no home runs, two doubles, one RBI, two walks and 13 strikeouts before his back flared up. At this point, it's fair to wonder if Bryant will even return at all in 2025, and if he does, he might not be very productive for those in NL-only leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Colorado Rockies third baseman Kris Bryant (back) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday, retroactive to April 13. Rockies manager Bud Black said he expects Bryant to only require the minimum stint on the injured list. Bryant is dealing with lumbar degenerative disc disease, which does sound serious. The organization believes it's something he'll need to manage, but he can continue his playing career. Bryant has been a non-factor in terms of fantasy baseball since signing with the Rockies in 2022. He can remain on the waiver wire in basically all fantasy formats, but hopefully Bryant can resume playing at some point this season. The expectation is Kyle Farmer will see more playing time with Bryant sidelined.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
