Kolten Wong On Crutches

St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong (toe) left the game early on Saturday after fouling a ball off his toe. Wong said his big toe isn't fractured, but he had a lot of pain and swelling that needed to be alleviated by drilling a hole in the nail. He's on crutches and will be out for several days, but he's encouraged by initial X-rays. This could be something that will send him to the injured list, but for now consider him day-to-day. The 28-year-old had a single and a run scored in three plate appearances on Saturday and is now hitting .272/.356/.395 with nine homers, 48 runs, 48 RBI and 17 steals in 458 plate appearances this year. Yairo Munoz or the struggling Matt Carpenter could benefit from Wong's injury.
