Kolby Allard Shipped To The Braves
2 years agoThe Atlanta Braves acquired left-hander Kolby Allard from the Texas Rangers on Wednesday in exchange for right-hander Jake Odorizzi and cash considerations. Allard returns to Atlanta after they took him in the first round of the 2015 draft. The 25-year-old southpaw made only 10 relief appearances for Texas in 2022 and had a rough 7.29 ERA (7.87 FIP), a 1.29 WHIP, one save and 19 strikeouts in his 21 innings pitched. As a starter in the minors, he was a bit better with a 4.65 ERA in 89 innings over 20 starts. Allard pitched in 32 games (17 starts) and had a 5.41 ERA (5.37 FIP) with a 1.27 WHIP and 104 strikeouts in a career-high 124 2/3 innings. It's unclear if the Braves have plans on returning him to a starting role in the big leagues.
