6 months agoDetroit Tigers shortstop prospect Kevin McGonigle (hand) will head to the injured list with a right-hamate fracture. The injury is expected to sideline him six to eight weeks, which would effectively end his season. It would be a disappointing end to such a positive year. The 19-year-old posted a .326-4-37-40-20 slash line and a strong 35:24 BB:K over 60 games at Single-A, earning a promotion to High-A. Amid the productive season, McGonigle was the biggest riser in MLB.com's July prospect listing, going from 96th overall to 65th overall, a jump of 31 spots. His ETA for an MLB debut is 2027, but with his 60-grade hit tool and impressive eye, it very well could be sooner than that.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller
